Dado que 17.04 ya no es compatible, decidí actualizar a 17.10 pero me encontré con los siguientes errores que no pude resolver:

Primero arreglaremos sus repositorios:
sudo sed -i -re 's/([a-z]{2}\.)?archive.ubuntu.com|security.ubuntu.com/old-releases.ubuntu.com/g' /etc/apt/sources.list
Esto debería ajustar su /etc/apt/sources.list para que se parezca a esto:
deb http://old-releases.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ zesty-updates main
deb http://old-releases.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ zesty-backports main
deb http://old-releases.ubuntu.com/ubuntu zesty-security main
deb http://old-releases.ubuntu.com/ubuntu zesty universo principal multiverso restringido
Luego ejecuta:
sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get dist-upgrade
Finalmente, ejecute:
sudo do-release-upgrade
