Desde que actualicé (instalación nueva) a Trusty (Kubuntu – EDIT y ahora Ubuntu vanilla, volví a solucionar este problema ) He notado problemas de red.
Exactamente cada dos minutos, mi red falla por un momento, pero luego vuelve a estar en línea. Esto se refleja claramente en el syslog:

Esto es tan frustrante. No puedo estar siempre en cat5. Como dije antes, esto nunca sucedió el 13.10. Realmente no quiero bajar de categoría. ¿Hay alguna manera de que pueda usar los controladores wifi de 13.10?

Vaya, esto ha estado sucediendo desde 2009 y un desarrollador respondió que es simplemente para itinerancia en entornos corporativos con múltiples puntos de acceso para conectarse. Si solo tiene un AP en casa, vaya al administrador de red, seleccione "Editar conexión", resalte su AP / wlan0 y haga clic en "Editar". Luego haga clic en la flecha hacia abajo junto a BSSID que está en blanco. Luego seleccione la dirección mac que estaba oculta antes.

Realicé esos pasos y tanto las líneas de escaneo como las de error dejaron de registrarse. Todavía no puedo decir si mi conexión se ha vuelto más estable, pero trataré de recordar actualizar esta respuesta en uno o dos días.
Regresé 3 semanas después (había perdido la pestaña abierta, ups), y creo que ha ayudado. Todavía tengo caídas de conexión extrañas, pero no parecen tan comunes como recuerdo que eran cuando encontré esta pregunta por primera vez.
