Después de compartir Samba con éxito hace unos días, tengo lo mismo hoy, pero recibí el siguiente error:
'net usershare' returned error 255: net usershare add: cannot convert name "Everyone" to a SID.
The connection was refused. Maybe smbd is not running.
Cuando intento iniciar/reiniciar el servicio samba, obtengo lo siguiente
$ sudo service samba status
* nmbd is running
* smbd is not running
$ sudo service samba start
$ sudo service samba restart
$ sudo service samba status
* nmbd is running
* smbd is not running

El problema era con el nombre de usuario. He descomentado esta línea:
guest account = nobody
tener nobody usuario en mi sistema y ahora funciona bien.
